Latest news in Reception

This week in our Reception classes we have been reading the text 'The Gingerbread Man'. The children have all taken part in a fun science experiment involving gingerbread. In this experiment the children observed what happened when they placed a gingerbread man in water, milk, oil and vinegar. We learnt lots of tricky scientific concepts like buoyancy, absorption, and material changes in a fun and engaging way. We also acted like scientists and made predictions about what we thought would happen. Some of us thought the gingerbread man might explode, change shape, change size, dissolve or sink. We had great fun observing the changes in the gingerbread man over the day and at the end of the day we found that the gingerbread man in oil changed the least, and the gingerbread man in water changed the most. This one lost most of its colour and became very soft. Well done Oak and Willow class for another busy week of learning. At Roebuck, we are scientists!
