This week in nursery we have been learning all about Diwali. We took part in a special workshop to help us understand more about the religious festival. We had the opportunity to paint our own Diyas and used special gems to decorate them. The afternoon children were lucky enough to take part in a dance workshop.
Nursery have had an exciting first week back after half term. We have been busy learning all about fireworks and celebrations. We have been watching and listening to fireworks and describing what they sound like. The children have been making fireworks using different materials, making marks in coloured sand and they have been using chalk and paint to make firework pictures.
This week in Nursery we have been reading the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears. All the children were shocked to find a broken chair and porridge spilt all over the floor on Monday morning. We have conducted a full investigation and found out that it was Goldilocks! The children have enjoyed retelling the story and getting messy with porridge oats.
The children in Nursery are becoming more familiar with routines in the classrooms. We have been exploring all areas such as sand, water and the mud kitchen in the outdoor areas. New additions this year have been a new reading hut , a sensory garden outside Acorn classroom, sensory corridors outside both classrooms and some new fish.
The children have been enjoying making new friends and learning in all of these areas. All the adults in Nursery were very proud of the children when we practised the fire drill this week and walked to the field.
This week we start our full time nursery routines and we are looking forward to the weeks ahead.
Nursery have had an amazing first week. We have been busy settling into new routines and getting to know each other.
All the children have enjoyed meeting the guinea pigs Acorn and Chestnut and they have been making sure that they have lots of dandelions to eat.

Making Pancakes!
This week Nursery had the chance to get hands on for Pancake Day. Not only did they children get to make and eat pancakes they also had the opportunity to get messy and explore the ingredients with their hands.
Marvellous me
This term we have started our new topic Marvellous me. On Friday we had a nurse come into visit and tell us all about her job. We found out how nurses look after poorly people and how they help doctors make people better.
The nurse bought in lots of bandages and we had fun bandaging each others legs and arms.
Making potions
In Nursery the children have been reading the story Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson. We made a magical potion in the witches cauldron and the children have been busy creating their own potions in the water tray.
A great end our first half term.
Welcome to Nursery!
All the Nursery children have been busy settling in and exploring their new environment. We have all enjoyed getting to know each other and making new friends. Well done to all the children, what a great start!
Tadpoles
What a great start to our last half term in Nursery. We have tadpoles in our class this week. We have been busy making tadpole diaries to record any changes. Lets hope we are lucky enough to watch them grow into frogs!
Wow what an amazing few weeks we have had in nursery! We have been lucky enough to have chicks in our class for the last two weeks. We had ten eggs and we watched as all ten eggs hatched. We have had great fun watching them grow and change and we were very sad to see them leave.
